More women are now open to the idea of breast augmentation, which not only enhances their appearance, but also improves self-esteem and confidence. If you are interested in breast implants, the first step is to find a clinic that specializes in the procedure, and their cosmetic surgeons and doctors will advise further on whether you should consider the choice. There are two kinds of implants used in breast augmentation – silicone and saline implants. In this post, we are discussing both, so that you can make an informed decision.
What are saline implants?
Saline implants are also made of a standard silicone shell, which is filled with a saline solution, to get the size and share of breasts desired. Saline implants are often recommended for younger women under the age of 22 and those who have enough natural breast tissues. When it comes to silicone implants (more on that later), you have to go for MRIs on a regular basis to monitor the implants, which isn’t the case withsaline implants. This is also the cheaper of the two procedures/implants.
Saline implants are not risky, because the solution used is safe. In case of a leak/rupture, there isn’t much to worry about as far as risks are concerned.
What are silicone implants?
Silicone implants are made of silicone (obviously), with a filling that’s thicker than what is used in saline implants. The biggest advantage of silicone implants is the natural look that’s achieved in most cases. Also, this kind of implants can be considered for women who otherwise don’t have enough breast tissues. The breast profile or size that you seek can be easily considered withsilicone implants.
With silicone implants¸ however, you need to be particular with monitoring, and regular MRIs are required.
Which one is better?
There is no standard answer to that. Some women are keen on silicone implants, others may prefer saline implants. Factors like age, condition of natural tissues can influence the final decision. On your first appointment with the cosmetic surgeon, you will get a fair idea of what may work better for your case, although it could be a personal choice too. Schedule abreast augmentation consultation session with one of the known clinics, ask relevant questions, and make sure that you have evaluated the risks, if any, which are specific to your case.
With breast augmentation, you can change the way you feel about your body!
